Rustic Easter Bunny Scrapbook Journal Page by Puk
It may be surprising to hear, but as much as Puk dislikes humans, he adores nature, animals of the forest, and reading. Who woulda thunk it! The rest of the monsters were actually also very surprised to learn that Puk likes to read, as he very rarely seems to sit still. Like most of us, he can’t resist the lure of a great book. (Hey book nerds, we have a whole book division of the blog! Check it out here!) It is one of the few things that will hold his attention. He did a little homage to Peter Rabbit with this junk journal layout.

For this layout specifically, we have some Easter things itemized, focusing on the Easter bunny and the Tale of Peter Rabbit.
“The Tale of Peter Rabbit” by Beatrix Potter is a timeless and beloved children’s story first published in 1902. The narrative follows the adventures of Peter Rabbit, a mischievous and disobedient young bunny, and his siblings—Flopsy, Mopsy, and Cottontail. Despite their mother’s warning to stay out of Mr. McGregor’s garden, Peter succumbs to the temptation of its tasty vegetables. The escapade takes a perilous turn when Mr. McGregor discovers Peter in the garden, leading to a frantic chase. Though Peter narrowly escapes, he returns home exhausted and sick.

When is Easter?
When is the Easter holiday is annual question for us, since the date is always different! Here is a quick glance at the next 10 years.
Easter and the Easter Bunny (History Nerd Moment)
We can’t resist a nerdy history moment, so if you don’t love this part, jump down to the scrapbook prompts!
The association between a white rabbit or bunnies and Easter has deep historical roots, drawing from both ancient pagan traditions and Christian symbolism. In various cultures, rabbits have long symbolized fertility and new life, particularly during the spring season, which aligns with the themes of renewal and rebirth associated with Easter.
Early Christian celebrations often incorporated existing cultural symbols, such as the rabbit, into their practices, melding the imagery of fertility with the Christian narrative of resurrection and new life in Christ. Medieval art and literature further contributed to the symbolism, portraying hares as triumphant over snakes, representing victory over evil.
The concept of the Easter Bunny and Easter Bunny eggs became more widespread through German folklore, where the Osterhase, or Easter Hare, was believed to lay eggs for children to find. This tradition, brought to America by German immigrants, evolved into the modern-day Easter Bunny delivering colorful eggs during the holiday. The association between bunnies and Easter thus weaves together ancient traditions, Christian symbolism, and cultural folklore, creating a charming and enduring element of the Easter celebration.
