Can I scrapbook Easter with neutrals instead of bright pastels?

Our favorite Easter pages are the neutral ones! Neutral Easter pages are kind of jawdroppingly gorgeous when you do them right.
Here’s the secret: Easter is not only pastel eggs and cartoon bunnies. Easter is spring. It is fresh air, soft light, tiny green buds, and that “we survived winter” feeling. Spring is basically begging you to use muted neutrals with little hints of color.
If you want a nature-inspired neutral Easter vibe, think:
- Kraft, cream, warm white, soft beige
- Linen textures, woodgrain, and subtle tone-on-tone patterns
- Botanical bits like florals, sprigs, and leafy ephemera
- Soft touches of color like dusty pink, sage, pale blue, or muted lavender
The easiest way to make it feel like Easter without going full candy shop is to keep your base neutral, then add Easter cues in small doses. A simple “Happy Easter” title, a tiny bunny silhouette, one egg detail, or a floral cluster is more than enough. It reads grown-up, cozy, and intentional, instead of looking like a preschool party exploded on your cardstock.
And if you’re worried neutrals will feel boring, add texture. This is where neutrals win. Vellum, cheesecloth, burlap, stitched edges, crinkled paper, or layered book pages make everything look rich and styled, even if the colors are quiet.
How do I use pastels for Easter scrapbook pages without making them look childish?

Pastels can be so underrated for mature scrapbook layouts, but you have to treat them like they’re fancy. Because they are.
The trick is to stop thinking “Easter candy colors” and start thinking spring palette. Pastels can be soft, elevated, and aesthetic if you keep them under control.
A few easy moves that instantly make pastels look more grown-up:
- Pick 2–3 pastels max. That’s it. Do not invite the whole rainbow.
- Add a neutral anchor like white, cream, kraft, or light gray so the pastels do not take over.
- Use pastels in accents, not as the whole background. Think small layers, mats, tags, or a border.
- Go for muted versions like dusty pink instead of bubblegum, sage instead of neon green, and soft blue instead of baby shower blue.
If you want it to feel more nature-inspired and less “kid basket,” bring in spring elements: florals, butterflies, soft greenery, gingham, light woodgrain, and natural textures. A pastel page with a little botanical energy feels like springtime, not a toy aisle.
Also, keep your embellishments clustered instead of scattered everywhere. One pretty cluster of florals, an egg detail, and a title looks styled. Twenty tiny stickers sprinkled all over looks like it is trying too hard.
Basically, pastels are cute, but you are the boss. Give them boundaries and they behave.

FAQs: Easter Scrapbook Ideas
A scrapbook is usually built around photos, memories, and keepsakes, often with a more organized, album-style look, like many of the scrapbook layouts in this post. Junk journals are all about freedom and fun! They don’t have to include photos and often use found papers, ticket stubs, and layered textures. If you want to see the difference in action, just scroll through the page ideas right here for inspiration! We also have a post giving examples of the difference. Check it out here!
Scrapbook the season: spring decorating, baking, brunch, basket prep, church outfits, fresh flowers, rainy-day crafts, or a “currently loving” spring page. You can also make a tradition page with journaling about what Easter feels like in your home.
Yes. Treat junk journal bits as background texture (book pages, tags, lace), then anchor everything with cardstock mats and a clear focal point so it still reads as “scrapbook.”
Rotate themes: eggs one year, florals the next, then bunnies, then brunch, then faith-focused, then vintage. Swap layouts too: one-photo minimalist, collage grid, or diagonal design.

Scrapbook Supplies Corner
Regardless if you lean more toward bullet journal, scrapbook layouts or junk journal pages, we know that seeing other people’s (or creature’s) junk journal layouts or scrapbook journals often makes people want to get the same supplies as those being used.
It is a great time to play with Easter scrapbook layouts in all the creative ways, from double page layouts (hello, first page + second page perfection) to quick little spreads that still look fancy. Start with white card stock, add pattern papers, and go a little wild with washi tape, different colors, and flower stickers. Toss on a “hoppy easter” title or a “hippity hoppity” moment, especially if you are documenting an easter egg hunt and all the easter fun. And if your stash needs a glow up, Echo Park, American Crafts, fun scrapbook subscriptions, and a few handmade items are a great way to keep things fresh.
