Zombie Valentine – Scrapbook Journal Page by Troll
During a crafting session around the idea of Valentine’s Day (junk journal layouts and inspiration), several of the Monster’s did their own unique version of a Valentine junk journal page. Troll thought he was being so clever by making the most girlish, feminine scrapbook page, then added the twist of a zombie right at the very end. The monsters all loved the twist and thought it was a great addition to the scrapbook journal for Valentines.

Junk Journal Supplies Corner
We know that seeing other people’s (or creature’s) junk journal layouts or scrapbook journal often makes you want to get the same supplies as those being used. This is the area where we provide quick references for the scrapbook supplies the Monsters use on their junk journal and scrapbook layouts.
Generally, you can also look to the Monster’s Junk Journal Scrapbook Storefront (linked below) for all kinds of amazing stickers, ephemera, tools, storage, and more for your scrapbooking hobby. For this layout specifically, we have some things itemized.
We particularly love it when we get to feature artists or shops on Etsy. For “Zombie Valentine,” the star of the show is the incredible zombie sticker from Paper Haunt (also known as Low Brow Misfits). Here are quick reference links for the main features of this junk journal page:

Scrapbook Journal Inspiration – Gothic Valentine (Zombie Version)
When you think of undead creatures and Valentines, as one does, you don’t typically think of Zombies. (The Valentine’s Day card images notwithstanding!) Usually, it is the debonaire, elegant, and deadly vampire that gets all the attention. Indeed, Troll’s use of a zombie was quite the twist. For the record, as the undead goes (with the exception of Kel, the Monsters adore her), the Monsters are not huge fans. Ashina (the Werewolf) is, of course, mortal enemies with one such group in particular. The rest aren’t quite so…aggressive…about their dislike, but they all prefer to keep company with other creatures.
Humans & Zombies
The Monsters understand human fascination with zombies, as, well, they do become them if things go awry. Zombies, with their roots in diverse cultural and mythological traditions, gained modern prominence through George A. Romero’s seminal film “Night of the Living Dead” (1968), which established many of the tropes associated with zombies today. Romero’s subsequent works, such as “Dawn of the Dead” (1978) and “Day of the Dead” (1985), explored themes of societal collapse and human behavior in the face of a zombie apocalypse.
Since then, zombies have become a pervasive element in popular culture, appearing in various forms of media, including movies, TV shows, video games, and literature. The concept of a zombie apocalypse, often depicting the dead rising to threaten the living, has become a recurring theme, contributing to iconic works like “The Walking Dead” and games like “Resident Evil.”
10 Zombie Valentine Prompts for your Scrapbook Journal
Creating a zombie-themed Valentine’s scrapbook or journal page can be a fun and unique way to blend the macabre with the romantic. Here are 10 ideas to inspire your project:
- Zombie Love Story Collage:
- Use cutouts from zombie movies and comics to create a collage that tells a zombie love story. Include images of famous zombie couples or create your own undead romantic narrative.
- Undying Love Quotes:
- Pair classic romantic quotes with zombie-themed illustrations. For example, use a zombie hand holding a heart with a caption like “Our Love is Undying.”
- Zombie Couple Portraits:
- Illustrate a zombie version of you and your partner. Add details like zombie makeup, torn clothing, and romantic touches like a bouquet of withered flowers.
- Zombie Cupid:
- Create a zombie Cupid aiming its arrow at a zombie heart. Add details like bloodstains, torn wings, and a caption like “Love Bites.”
- Bloody Handprint Borders:
- Use red paint or ink to create bloody handprint borders around your pages. Add hearts and love-themed decorations within the handprints.
- Zombie Valentine’s Day Coupons:
- Design zombie-themed coupons for your partner. For example, “A Free Hug (Beware: May be cold and clammy)” or “Date Night – Zombie Movie Marathon.”
- Zombie Apocalypse Date Night:
- Design a spread that outlines your ideal zombie apocalypse date night. Include details like a romantic picnic surrounded by zombie hordes.
- Zombie Love Potion Recipe:
- Create a page with a “Zombie Love Potion” recipe. Use creative ingredients like “Moonlit Graveyard Essence” and “Heart of the Undead.”
- Graveyard of Memories:
- Design a graveyard scene with tombstones representing memorable moments in your relationship. Each tombstone could have a date or a special memory written on it.
- Zombie-Inspired Poetry:
- Write zombie-themed love poems on the pages of your scrapbook. Add illustrations or collages that complement the dark and romantic tone of the poetry.
