If you’re all about that red, white & blue life, then putting together a patriotic tiered tray decor setup might just be your new favorite thing.

Have commitment issues? These little trays are such a great way to show off your seasonal decor style without going full Uncle Sam in your living room.

Have a look around your place because you might already have a lot of great things & some perfect decor to make up your tray decorations. You can make it all about the American flag, or lean into that vintage feel with ceramic mugs, mason jars, and small flags tucked in between your favorite knickknacks.

This post is full of one level trays as well as tiered tray ideas that work not only for the Fourth of July, but also for Memorial Day, Labor Day, or even Flag Day.

We love these trays because they let us feel festive and is the perfect way to bring some patriotic vibes to your coffee table, side tables, or outdoor spaces without a ton of effort.

Tips for Creating The Perfect 4th of July Tray

The beauty of decorating for the 4th of July lies in its versatility. You can create a stunning tablescape that reflects the spirit of the holiday, no matter your budget or time constraints.

  • Layer it up – This is one of our favorites things, mixing heights of objects. It makes it so interesting to look at. Our favorite type of risers to use are stacked books, but also think inverted ceramic mugs, or mini crates.
  • Mix textures – Along with the different heights, different textures is key. The more the merrier! All the same texture can be boring. Combine wooden stars, white vases, tin signs, and enamel cups for that perfect blend.
  • Add small flags – The easiest way to create a patriotic tray, duh! A few blue flags or classic American flags poking out of a jar or tucked into a corner give big patriotic theme energy.
  • Stick to a color flow – Red, white & blue decorations are your go-to, but feel free to lean heavy on one shade if you’re going for a specific vibe (like a clean white & blue combo with a little red as a pop).
  • Use mini signs or printables – Grab some patriotic printables or little signs that say things like “God Bless America” or “Land of the Free” to fill in gaps.
  • Think balance, not clutter – This is a tough one for us, because we are usually in the “more is better” category, but its true that a few intentional decorative elements go a long way.
  • Top it off with something unexpected – Like a vintage coca cola bottle, a mini sparkler display, or even a blue star ornament. It’s the final touch that brings it all together, and it usually creates the most visually stunning display.

Dark Colored Tiered Tray

Credit: thesassydesigns

We don’t see a dark colored tiered tray very often, but we love how striking of a background it gives for all the seasonal decor. There is a lot to love here, but we are obsessed with that street sign!!

Whimsical & Nostalgic

Credit: tennesippihome

This tray is STUNNING. As a certified book nerd, I absolutely love the scrolls incorporated here, for a literary aesthetic. Love it incorporated with the bust, and the ivy twined around it. The birdcage over top of all of it? GENIUS. This is so unique and gorgeous, I can’t stop staring at it.

Farmtable with Flags

Credit: hammonsnest

I am loving the tin base here, and adding in cotton takes me back to my southern living years. Absolutely love it combined with antique aesthetic flags, a sprig of greenery, and a vintage tag. It’s a vibe!

Clean & Bright

Credit: pbandp

This is a great example of putting together a great patriotic tray by using stuff you may already have around your house. Chances are, you already have a lot of what is featured here – white vases, small potted plants, a candle, red and white striped cloth. Pop in a few flags along with some fresh white flowers (red or blue would work too) and you have an amazing 4th of July tray!

Understated Rustic

Credit: blakebydesign

What is it about those rattan globes and wooden beads? We love them, so whenever we see the incorporated into design we immediately love it. This weathered white tray is the perfect accompaniment, and the little wooden blocks and hand sewn starts are perfectly set off with the flags and greenery springs. Love this.

Black & White accent

Credit: lifeasicit

We love the texture and color contrasts here! The vase (or water pitcher) is not one that immediately screams 4th of July, but it works so well when you pair it with rustic elements like bells with stars on them and a thick rope, hydrangea blooms, stars and the America sign. The vase pulls all of these together in a way that is visually stunning.

Bright & Sunny

Credit: gemma.and.gianni

This tray decor is so bright and sunny and cheerful, we absolutely love it! Adding fruit to it creates such interesting texture and bright color, and is such an easy thing to do. Finding your favorite white vase, along with little stars adds a cohesive elements, with the flag and napkin, white and blue hydrangea blooms, and simple candle creates a beautiful 4th of July tray.

Knickknack Tray Decor

Credit: pammyandpoppy

This 4th of July tiered tray decor is one we think of as being comprised of knickknacks. Little patriotic things like Christmas tree decorations, wooden string, candle stick and white pitcher with stars and stripes bowls (filled with color themed candy) are completely tied together with the flag string, and the big flag as the backdrop. Perfect!

Light Up Vase

Credit: cherish.larsen

The center of this tray is all about that light up vase, giving serious ambiance during daylight as well as dusk. It packs so much punch that all you need to do is add in a bowl with some seasonally colored candy, and a simple candle and you have an amazing tray set up.

Vintage Tin Can

Credit: wallerhomeinteriors

Ok this isn’t technically on a tray, but we love the look of it and it would totally work on a tray as well as on a table as shown here. We are completely obsessed with vintage tins, and love them decorated in a patriotic display. Add to this some blue hydrangea blooms, brass candle sticks, and some whethered fabric stars and flags (plus we die for a clock!) and you have an amazing 4th of July set up.

Red, White & Blue with Green(ery)

Credit: simple.joy.at.home

As someone who is steadfast in thinking that everything is better with a plant or two, I absolutely love this set up with so much greenery. The all white base of the tiered tray and glassware or ceramics is the perfect set up to add a few seasonal elements to create the perfect 4th of July tiered tray.

America’s Pastime

Credit: countrysamplerfarmhouse

Vintage baseball decor on the 4th of July is absolutely top tier for us. It is practically begging for a story about some of the elements, or to talk about that one year when the Cubs finally broke the curse.

Cracker Jack

Credit: texasbluebungalow

Isn’t it crazy to think that we hardly see Cracker Jack around anywhere now a days? It is such a staple of Americana, and is perfect in a 4th of July tray set up. It is certainly the star of the show, so you don’t have to add much to tie it all in to the theme.

Square and Round Tiered Tray Ideas

We wanted to do a side by side of these two stunning 4th of July tied tray decor stylings, to show how the creators set up each one. Love them both, so regardless of whether you have a square or round tiered tray, this will give you inspiration on how to style it.

Simple and Stunning

Credit: mrs.alonzo

This simple set up is just beautiful in its clean lines and bright colors. The star cutting board is everything! Swap out the greenery for any red, white or blue you have on hand, and you are set.

Twisting Tiered Tray

Credit: interiordelights.co

This tray tho! We love the wooden texture and that twisting handle is simply gorgeous. It is a show stopper on its own, so adding in some blue and white dishware and some munchies in red and white colors is all you need!

Candyland

Credit: justrenoproject

We love the idea of using candy as part of the decor. This tray set up is amazing and so versatile. Swap out the candy for things that work for each season and you have got an instant and easy decoration. Pop in a flag, a color coordinated candle, and a folded placemat or napkin and it looks (and tastes) amazing!

1776 Sign

Credit: thefeatheredfarmhouse

I know that signs have been getting a bad rap lately, but I still love them. Especially one like this, with a vintage feel and the “not cringy” date of 1776 on it. No cringy word sayings here! Added with a spring of greenery and some fabric stars and you have a gorgeous, weathered aesthetic tray that is stunning.

Non Traditional 4th Of July Tiered Tray

Credit: allthedayscreations

How fun is this!??!?! Shaking up the traditional or vintage vibes, this tiered tray is completely on theme but with a fun twist. Love the variation in the blue color, and the little gnome is just everything!

Simple But Elegant

Credit: nissalynninteriors

Isn’t this so elegant? Wow, absolutely love it! Wooden tray with the wooden candle sticks are gorgeous and evergreen, along with the books. Add in two mason jars with bright red flowers and a simple piece of fabric and you have a simple but gorgeous design.

Clean and Simple

Credit: laurenpaigeathome

Like the design above, this simple table centerpiece tray decor is perfect in its simplicity. The white candlesticks with a simple glass jar on top of a perfectly sized wooden tray is perfect all year long, and to make it patriotic, pop in some seasonal stems and a flag and you have the perfect tray tabletop decor.

Ice Cream!

Credit: thefarmonhoneyhole

A patriotic themed tray centered around the joy of going on an ice cream run in the summer just makes us so happy to look at. We love this theme!!

Glassware & Stems

Credit: bigfamilylittlefarmhouse

Well, we are considering this tray decor because each of these gorgeous glass bottles are sitting on a tray. But aren’t these gorgeous???? I have heart eyes looking at this picture, with the red stems and the flag pillow behind. Love the wooden elements, the different textures, all of it!

Two Looks With Simple Swaps
