We can’t resist a nerdy history moment, so if you don’t love this part, jump down to the scrapbook prompts!
It is hard not to love purple, and once we started doing a little research on it, it kind of explained why this color is so intriguing. Here are some facts that you may or may not have known:
- Royalty and Nobility: We have always heard that purple has been associated with royalty, nobility, and wealth. What we didn’t know is that the reason this color is associated with the royals is because back in ancient times, purple dye was rare and expensive to produce, so only the richest people or families could afford it. Purple = status symbol.
- Symbolism of Spirituality: Purple is often associated with spirituality, mysticism, and inner peace. It’s commonly used in meditation and mindfulness practices to evoke a sense of calm and tranquility.
- Creativity and Imagination: We often think of this in combination with the zen mindset that purple evokes, because purple is often linked with creativity, imagination, and artistic expression. It’s a color that encourages innovation and thinking outside the box.
- Balance of Warmth and Coolness: Purple is considered a balanced color because it combines the warmth of red with the coolness of blue – maybe this is part of its appeal? It strikes a perfect balance, Gemini’s, do you find yourself drawn to this color? This might be why.
- Healing and Wellness: In color therapy and holistic healing practices, purple is believed to have healing properties and is associated with the crown chakra, which is related to spiritual connection and enlightenment. We think of one of our favorite crystals being amethyst and maybe this is why?

- Impact on Psychology: Purple can have various psychological effects on individuals. It’s often perceived as a color of luxury and sophistication, but it can also evoke feelings of mystery, nostalgia, or even eccentricity. One thing we know for sure, it certainly appeals to a lot of us.
- Influence on Fashion and Design: Obviously, purple has a long history of being used in fashion and design. We would love to campaign to make a super dark purple be used like the new black. It would be a very dark shade but maybe give just a touch more color to the skin undertones.
- Role in Art and Literature: PRINCE. Need we say more?
- Variations and Symbolism: Different shades of purple can convey different emotions and messages. Lighter shades like lavender may represent sweetness and innocence, while darker shades like plum can evoke feelings of mystery and drama.
