The Monster’s resident werewolf – Ashina – has a *complicated* relationship with the moon. As you can understand. She is an avid scrapbooker of the moon, in particular. Here, she did a layout with the sun and moon occupying equal halves of the page.

Scrapbook Supplies Corner
Regardless of whether you were able to see the eclipse or not, creating a page like this is fun and is a great way to do something a bit out of the norm. The products Ashina used were not from a scrapbooking kit or page kit, they were all different supplies pulled together to create this look. They worked perfectly here, with the similar color scheme on each side pulling everything together.
We know that seeing other people’s (or creature’s) junk journal or scrapbook journal layouts often makes you want to get the same supplies as those being used.
The good news is, our list gives an easy way to find the products! If you are a beginner scrapbooker who needs all the necessary supplies, or a seasoned pro who wants a specific patterned paper, we have a whole host of scrapbooking stuff to look through.
This is the area where we provide quick references for you to find the scrapbook supplies used by the Monsters on their junk journal and scrapbook layouts.
For this post, we have featured the items used in Ashina’s eclipse inspired scrapbook page.
For the “junk” part of this junk journal layout, we added in pages from an old book that had been thrown away. There is no shortage of old books that are destined for a trash bin, so paper crafters probably won’t have a hard time finding one to use in this way.
We always encourage you to look to the mail, or newspaper clippings, even children’s drawings from family members & keep it in your craft room to add interest and something unique to any new scrapbook page.
For everything else, here are quick reference links for some of the items used in this layout:
This is really the tip of the iceberg, in terms of supplies. Getting scrapbook supplies or journaling supplies is honestly….almost as much fun as doing the actual scrapbooking or journaling. Its addictive, y’all! Don’t say we didn’t warn you!

Eclipse Information – Science & History Nerd Portion!
Types of Eclipses:
Of course, during a solar eclipse, the sun, moon and earth align perfectly or almost perfectly, blocking the sun’s light from reaching us on Earth. Did you know there are actually three different types of solar eclipse classifications? It depends on how well the moon covers the sun.
In a total solar eclipse, the moon acts as a perfect blackout curtain, completely covering the sun’s bright face. This creates a brief period of total darkness, where you might even see stars twinkle in the daytime sky!
If you miss the sweet spot of totality, you’ll experience a partial solar eclipse. Here, the moon only covers part of the sun, leaving a crescent-shaped shadow on Earth’s surface.
An annular eclipse is a special kind of partial eclipse where the moon is too far away to completely cover the sun. Instead, it creates a mesmerizing “ring of fire” effect, with the sun’s corona (outer atmosphere) glowing around the darkened moon. This is the type of eclipse we just had in North America in April, 2024.
Eclipses in History:
Eclipses have been observed and documented for thousands of years, with ancient civilizations attributing them to gods or mythical creatures.
The first scientific prediction of a solar eclipse is credited to Thales of Miletus, a Greek mathematician and astronomer who lived in the 6th century BC.
A total solar eclipse creates a temporary night effect, with a drop in temperature and the appearance of stars and planets during the brief period of totality.
Not all parts of the world experience a total solar eclipse during a single event. The path of totality, where complete darkness occurs, is a narrow band on the Earth’s surface.
There are different types of eclipses besides solar and lunar. A less common type is a lunar occultation, which occurs when a smaller object, such as an asteroid or dwarf planet, passes in front of a star, blocking its light from an observer on Earth.
If you had a group of school kids who experienced this, use this as a school theme to make their own scrapbook pages!
Eclipse Scrapbook Ideas
Seeing an Eclipse is a special occasion that is truly a scrapbook worthy event! They are so rare to witness, that making a scrapbook gift of this monumentous occasion is a great idea and will be a great gift to anyone who shared the experience with you.
Here are 10 prompts to inspire your scrapbook pages:
- Eclipse Viewing Party: The best thing is experiencing this with others. Document your experience of the solar eclipse viewing party, whether it was with a family member or friends. Capture the excitement and anticipation leading up to the event, photos of friends and family gathered together, and the moment when the sky went dark. Add a personalized message of the experience together!
- Eclipse Timeline: Create a timeline of the solar eclipse event. Include timestamps of when the partial eclipse began, reached maximum coverage, and ended, along with photos taken at each stage of the eclipse. Use washi tape that reflects the moon stages to go with the theme perfectly.
- Solar Eclipse Selfie: If you took a selfie during the solar eclipse and create a scrapbook page around it. Share your thoughts and feelings about witnessing this rare celestial event and include any interesting observations you made.
- Eclipse Watcher’s Journal: Keep a journal during the solar eclipse detailing your thoughts, emotions, and observations. Using your journal entries is a creative way to create a scrapbook layout that captures the essence of your experience.
- Eclipse Across the Sky: One of the main things during an eclipse is the completely unusual period of darkness. Capture the changing landscape during the solar eclipse. Take photos of the sky, surrounding scenery, and any unique shadows or lighting effects caused by the eclipse.
- Eclipse Viewing Equipment: Those crazy glasses, pinhole projectors, or other ways you used to view the eclipse are awesome things to scrapbook about, and to include in your scrapbooking gifts! Keep them and incorporate them into a page, along with photos of them in use.
- Eclipse Artwork: Experiencing an eclipse is one of the most inspiring events we can think of! Get creative and make artwork of your own design inspired by the solar eclipse. Whether it’s a drawing, painting, or collage, incorporate eclipse motifs and symbols into your artwork and feature it prominently on your scrapbook page.
- Eclipse Reflections: We often hear that people who have never experienced an eclipse are kind of ho-hum about it, but then once they experience it they are completely enraptured! Reflect on the significance of the solar eclipse and its impact on you. Write down your thoughts and reflections in your scrapbook, accompanied by photos or illustrations that convey the emotions you experienced during the event.
- Eclipse Shadow Play: If you noticed strange or unusual shadows during the eclipse, this is a great thing to scrapbook about. Arrange these photos on a scrapbook page to showcase the unique patterns and shapes created by the eclipse.
- Eclipse Memories Collage: If you traveled to be in the path, create a collage of memories from the solar eclipse trip! Include photos, ticket stubs, newspaper clippings, and any other mementos that remind you of this once-in-a-lifetime experience. Arrange these items creatively on your scrapbook page to tell the story of the eclipse from your perspective.
