What is an Easter Tree?

An Easter tree is a Christmas tree (maybe don’t use your dead Christmas tree if have a real one. Artificial may be the way to go here) you redecorate for spring using pastels, Easter eggs, florals, ribbon, and bunny or chick accents so it feels like Easter season instead of Christmas.

An Easter tree is basically what happens when you refuse to let cozy twinkle lights leave your life, but you still want your decor to match the season. You take a tree you already own and dress it up with classic Easter colors, textures, and spring details so it feels festive, intentional, and totally not Christmas anymore.

If you are in the “earlier the better” Christmas decorating club and you always feel a little emotionally attacked by taking the tree down, this is your sign. An Easter tree keeps that warm glow in your space and gives you a reason to decorate through late winter and early spring in a way that is playful but still grown-up.

The easiest way to make it read as Easter is using pastel colors and repeating them all over the tree. Add a few statement pieces like a bunny or floral sprays and suddenly it feels like a mini spring display.

And the best part: you do not need a cart full of new stuff. A handful of themed accents plus a solid ribbon plan can transform a basic tree fast, especially if you style with bows, eggs, and a few bold focal points. Even check out your local Dollar Tree or dollar store to find things for your tree.

What Are The Best Decorations for an Easter Tree?

If you’ve never decorated an Easter tree before, it can be hard to tell what counts as Easter decor versus “random pastel party stuff.” Here are the easiest, most recognizable elements to use so your tree reads instantly as spring and Easter.

  1. Start with the colors
Traditional Easter colors are pastels like pink, lavender, baby blue, mint green, butter yellow, and creamy white. Pick 3 to 5 colors and repeat them across ribbon, ornaments, and garland so the tree looks intentional.
  2. Easter eggs (the star of the show)
Egg ornaments instantly scream Easter. Use speckled eggs, glitter eggs, plastic eggs, or even handmade egg ornaments. Cluster them in sections for extra “wow.”
  3. Bunny and chick accents
Bunnies, chicks, and little spring animals are classic Easter symbols. Add a few cute ornaments or picks and it will look Easter-ready in seconds.
  4. Spring florals
Florals are what make an Easter tree look soft and springy instead of “leftover winter.” Use faux tulips, blossoms, daisies, or tiny floral sprays tucked into the branches.
  5. Ribbon and bows
Ribbon is what makes your tree look styled, not random. Choose one main ribbon pattern and build your bow plan around it. A big loop bow at the top and smaller bows spaced throughout makes the whole tree feel finished.
  6. Carrots and playful details
Carrot picks are adorable and honestly kind of iconic for Easter trees. You can also add tiny baskets, little signs, or whimsical touches that make it feel fun.
  7. Soft sparkle and neutral fillers
You can absolutely keep some neutral ornaments or sparkly accents from Christmas, especially gold, white, or clear pieces. They help fill space and keep the tree glowing without feeling cluttered.
  8. Egg garlands and pastel beads
Egg garlands are the easiest way to add Easter texture fast. Pastel bead strands can work too, especially for a farmhouse or boho spring vibe.
  9. Topper ideas
Instead of a Christmas star, use a big bow, floral spray burst, bunny topper, or even a little Easter sign moment at the top.
  10. Ornaments that fill space
Easter trees look best when they’re full. Add extra pastel baubles, glitter ornaments, or neutral pieces tucked in between your statement items to make it feel complete.

Easter Tree FAQs:

PLEASE DO! It is the easiest way to decorate for Easter without buying a whole new setup. Remove anything that screams Christmas, keep neutral ornaments that still work, and then build your Easter look with ribbon, eggs, florals, and cute themed statement pieces like bunnies or carrots.

The easiest Easter tree palette is pastels: pink, lavender, mint, baby blue, soft yellow, and white. When you repeat your colors all over the tree, your decor instantly looks intentional and spring-ready. But don’t count out a natural looking tree! Greens, soft brown, and other earthy tones look incredible too. Check them out in our gallery and see what I mean.

This is where creativity shines! Some of the cutest Easter tree toppers include a jumbo bow in pastel colors, a big floral spray, a bunny topper, or even a spring-inspired “burst” topper using picks and greenery. We love the gallery pictures because there is such variety. Even giant stuffed peeps! Pick one bold topper so the tree looks finished from the very top.

If you want to keep up your Christmas tree and just switch to a different season, you can transition to Valentines or Mardi Gras in the gap, and then decorate for Easter when those end. (Mardi Gras varies, but somewhere between mid-February to March). If you don’t want to do that, start as early as late February Your place, your rules! Most people decorate in March and keep it up through Easter Sunday. After Easter, you can take it down right away or transition it into a simple spring tree by removing the eggs and keeping florals and ribbon.
