Spread the love

The soft fur you feel when you scratch their favorite spot under the chin. The little purr that starts the second they curl up next to you. The way they somehow manage to be both the sweetest creature on earth and the absolute boss of your entire house. Our cats bring so much personality and joy into our lives, and these cat gallery wall ideas are such a fun way to give them a little corner of the house that feels completely their own.

This post is all about whimsical cat gallery wall ideas for your home. It is packed with playful, personality-filled inspiration for turning your cat’s feeding station, scratching area, or favorite little corner into a space that feels completely their own. These cat gallery wall ideas prove you do not need a big budget or a huge space to create something charming, personal, and just a little bit ridiculous for the furry family member you love.

Cats are family, and considering how much of the house they already believe belongs to them, it seems only fair to give them a little wall too.

What Is a Cat Gallery Wall?

A cat gallery wall is the latest trend where a small decorated wall is created around a space your cat uses, such as their feeding station, scratching area, or favorite little corner of the house. It can include framed photos of different sizes, cat portraits, name signs, paw prints, artwork, tiny shelves, or other pieces that celebrate your cat and their personality.

Because let’s face it, you already have approximately 4,000 pictures of your cat on your phone. This is different. This little wall is for THEM.

And cat gallery walls can be ridiculously fun. You can frame a beautiful fine art portrait of your cat as a distinguished member of the household, then mix in funny cat artwork, add tiny vintage frames, wallpaper, a name plaque, or display something completely specific to your cat. Shelves are great too, since these little nimble creatures can hop up there with ease. If they have a favorite toy, weird obsession, or particularly dramatic personality trait, there is probably a way to work it into the wall.

It also does not have to be a huge decorating project. A few thrifted frames, printed photos, a paw print, and a small piece of artwork can transform an ordinary feeding or scratching area into one of the most charming little spots in the house.

That is really what makes these so delightful. You are taking a space that is normally purely practical and turning it into a little whimsical spot for your furry family member.

💡 Slowestuff Tip:
Need a gift for someone who is impossible to buy for? Make it about their pet! A cat gallery wall would be such a fun gift idea for someone who absolutely adores their cat. Put together a starter pack of pieces to create their pet gallery wall. For the person who already has everything, a gift celebrating the furry little love of their life might be the thing that absolutely DELIGHTS them.

Cat Feeding Station Gallery Wall

A cat gallery wall can be built around any little space your cat already uses, but two spots work especially well: their feeding station or their scratching area. Instead of trying to find a random empty wall to decorate, start with one of those everyday cat zones and turn it into something that feels intentional, fun, and completely theirs.

For a cat feeding station gallery wall, use the food and water bowls as the starting point and build upward. Add framed photos, cat portraits, funny artwork, a name sign, paw prints, or little decorative pieces that fit your cat’s personality. Since we are talking about cats, a little ledge is a great thing to add into your gallery wall. They can hop up there and become part of the art! (You know they will love that)

You can also define the whole area with paint or peel-and-stick wallpaper, which makes even a tiny feeding spot feel like its own little room.

Cat Scratcher Gallery Wall

A scratching area gives you a completely different way to create a cat gallery wall. You can add in the frames and artwork as you would for a feeding station, and center it around a scratching post. If you have a wall-mounted scratcher, you can actually make it its own little corner, or integrate it into your living room home design gallery walls. You will see some examples below. So genius and stylish!

One thing to note if you are putting the actual scratcher on the wall, you have to make sure that thing is SECURE. Cats are not exactly delicate when they are going to town on a scratching pad, and the last thing you want is the whole thing coming off the wall mid-scratch.

Use screws into a wall stud when you can, or good wall anchors if you cannot. A lot of wall-mounted cat scratchers also come with their own mounting hardware, so definitely use that instead of trying to stick it up with regular picture-hanging strips.

Once it is up, give it a few good pulls yourself. If it moves when you tug on it, imagine what your cat is going to do to it. Secure first, then let the tiny demolition crew have at it.

You can’t go wrong, as you can see from the cat gallery walls below. We love them all!

Cat Gallery Wall Ideas FAQs

Gallery walls are insanely perfect for small spaces! It’s actually so magical to see a normally boring little spot come alive with personality and whimsy like a pet gallery wall.

Lots of people put them over their feeding station, so that is a great place to consider. Another option is to see where your cat loves to hang out in the house. They all find their little corners or nooks that they like. That might be a great place for one. You can also add it into your regular home decor! Have a gallery wall already? Extend it down and put a scratch frame. Looks like art, and it will be their own little scratching spot. So many fun options.

Add framed photos of your cat, funny cat artwork, a personalized portrait, their name, paw prints, little mirrors, vintage frames, signs, or anything else that feels like your cat. Little ledges or shelves are great for them to perch, or for a tiny decoration (although it might get swiped off). You can even add in little shadowboxes or light up signs. The only limit is your creativity!

It really can depend on the space you choose, but generally you want it low enough to feel connected to the space, especially if you are using it around the food bowls. You can build it up taller, especially if you have scratch pictures, as they will reach up to get those.

Anything you hang around a cat should be SECURE. Lightweight frames and artwork can be attached with good picture-hanging strips, while heavier frames, shelves, or wall-mounted scratchers should be attached with screws or wall anchors appropriate for your wall. Remember that a nearby counter, chair, or shelf may suddenly become their launching pad. Once everything is up, give it a little tug yourself. If you can knock it loose easily, your cat definitely can.
