What Is a Dog Gallery Wall?

We LOVE our pets, and I know you already have pictures of them everywhere. On our phones, framed around the house, probably as our lock screen. But a dog gallery wall is different. This little wall is for THEM. It is a mini display of their favorite things, right by their food and water, so they can enjoy their own tiny corner of the house. We love looking at it too, obviously, but that is almost beside the point.

You will see all kinds of cute and genuinely genius ideas in the gallery below. People are framing pet portraits, hanging collars from little hooks, displaying paw prints, adding name signs, and even framing favorite objects (the tennis balls!!!)

And of course, this is not just for dogs. Cats, bunnies, pigs, or any other four-legged little creature who is part of the family deserves a pet gallery wall too.

This is such an inexpensive little project, but it creates an absurd amount of joy. A thrifted frame, a printed photo, a paw print, a favorite toy, or something you already have can turn one ordinary little corner into something whimsical, personal, and ridiculously delightful.

👀 Trend Watch:
Once we started seeing these adorable little dog gallery walls, we immediately understood why they are starting to go viral. They are SO CUTE. And if you are reading this now, you are catching the trend early, because these are only just starting to pop up everywhere. People are adding tiny portraits, vintage frames, wallpaper backdrops, little shelves, hooks for collars, paw prints, name plaques, crowns, mirrors, favorite toys, and even framed tennis balls. The best part is how personal they are. No two pet corners look the same, and that is exactly what makes them so fun.

How Do You Create a Dog Gallery Wall Above a Feeding Station?

Start with the little creature who actually owns the space, then build the wall around their size, feeding setup, and personality.

Start with your pet, literally. How tall are they? Where does their head sit when they are eating or drinking? A tiny Chihuahua and a Great Dane are going to need completely different layouts, so the height of the gallery wall should make sense for the animal using the space. You want everything low enough to feel connected to their little corner, but high enough that bowls, splashes, wagging tails, and curious noses are not knocking things around.

Then create the backdrop. You can leave the wall as-is, paint a small section, or add wallpaper or peel-and-stick wallpaper to make the feeding station feel like its own tiny room. From there, add little shelves, hooks for collars or leashes, picture frames, a name plaque, or a larger portrait to anchor the arrangement.

And this is where the whimsy really starts. The pictures do not have to be serious portraits of your pet. Frame photos of them, pictures of the family they love, illustrations of their favorite toys or treats, funny cartoons, paw prints, or anything that feels like their personality. We have even seen portraits with tiny crowns, because obviously some pets have been waiting their entire lives for their royal portrait.

The whole point is to make it feel like their wall. A little funny, a little sentimental, and completely specific to the creature who eats dinner underneath it.

Dog Gallery Wall Ideas FAQs

A dog gallery wall is a small decorated wall created around a pet’s feeding station or favorite corner. It can include portraits, framed paw prints, name signs, favorite toys, funny artwork, hooks for collars, shelves, or anything else that reflects your pet’s personality.

Base the height on your pet. The display should sit above their head and feeding area so they cannot easily bump, lick, or knock anything down. A small dog will need a lower arrangement than a large dog, but everything should still be secure and safely out of reach.

Use whatever makes sense for the weight of the item and the kind of wall you have. Lightweight frames, signs, and little decorative pieces can often be hung with removable picture-hanging strips or small adhesive hooks. Heavier frames and shelves should be attached more securely with nails, screws, or wall anchors. Since this is usually right above a pet feeding area, make sure everything is firmly attached and high enough that curious noses, wagging tails, and enthusiastic mealtimes are not going to send anything crashing down.

Half the fun is gathering tiny things that feel like your pet. Thrift stores, craft stores, scrapbook aisles, dollhouse sections, flea markets, and even holiday ornament displays can turn up little frames, signs, hooks, crowns, flowers, and other quirky pieces. But some of the best additions may already be at home. Make an ink paw print, frame a favorite photo, hang a collar or tag, add a little mirror, or even display something they are obsessed with. Yes, that tennis ball can absolutely become art. We even saw one with a crown! The more personal and slightly unexpected the pieces are, the more delightful the whole little wall becomes.

A dog gallery wall can include pet portraits, family photos, framed paw prints, name signs, collars, tags, favorite toys, funny dog artwork, mirrors, hooks, mini shelves, and little objects that fit your dog’s personality. Even something as simple as a tennis ball can become part of the display.
