What Is a Fridge Gallery Wall?

A fridge gallery wall is a collection of small artwork, photographs, frames, decorative magnets, and other objects arranged on the front or side of a refrigerator like a traditional gallery wall.
Some are wonderfully maximalist, with tiny gold frames, vintage art, photographs, decorative objects, and magnets covering nearly every available inch. Others are much simpler, with just a handful of favorite pieces arranged together.
One of the most creative versions of the trend starts by covering the refrigerator with peel-and-stick wallpaper or removable cling. That gives the fridge an entirely different background before the artwork even goes up.
But you absolutely do not have to cover your refrigerator first. A stainless steel, white, black, or colorful fridge can become the backdrop itself.
That is one of my favorite things about this trend. There really isn’t a formula. Treat the refrigerator like a little blank wall in your kitchen and decorate it in a way that works with your home.
✨ Trend Alert: Fridge Gallery Walls
Congratulations, you’ve found this trend early! This might be one of the cutest, and smartest decorating ideas we’ve seen in a while. Your fridge takes up a huge amount of visual space in the kitchen, so why not make it part of the aesthetic?
How Do You Make a Fridge Gallery Wall?

Start by looking at the refrigerator you already have and deciding how much of it you actually want to decorate.
You can create a small collection on one door, decorate both doors, use the freezer drawer, or leave the front completely alone and build your gallery on the side of the refrigerator instead.
Then gather small, lightweight pieces that make sense for the space. Mini picture frames, photographs, postcards, tiny art prints, vintage-style artwork, decorative magnets, little mirrors, and other small objects can all work. Don’t limit yourself to picture frames, either. Tiny thrift-store finds like decorative spoons, miniature plates, little vases, ornaments, or other lightweight objects can add dimension to the gallery. Attach a magnet to the back and tuck them between the flatter artwork for a more collected look.
Don’t worry about making everything match. In fact, many of the most interesting fridge gallery walls look collected rather than purchased as a set. Mixing frame shapes, sizes, finishes, artwork, and personal photos makes the refrigerator feel more like a real gallery wall.
Before attaching everything, arrange the pieces on a table or counter and play with the layout. Start with your largest piece and fill in around it with smaller items. Once you like the arrangement, transfer it to the fridge.
Can You Put Peel-and-Stick Wallpaper on a Refrigerator?
Yes, some of the fridge gallery walls featured here use peel-and-stick wallpaper or removable decorative material to completely change the look of the refrigerator before adding the gallery.
It is a clever idea because the pattern becomes the backdrop for all of those little frames and objects. A plain stainless steel refrigerator can suddenly look floral, colorful, vintage, whimsical, or completely unexpected.
You don’t need to wallpaper your fridge to create a gallery wall, but if you love color or pattern, it adds another layer to the look.

How Do You Attach Picture Frames to a Refrigerator?
Here’s the clever part. The tiny frames you see on fridge gallery walls don’t necessarily have to be magnetic when you buy them. So you are not limited at all!
Slap some peel and stick magnets on there! Put them on the back of your picture frames, decor, or other knick knacks you want up there. They have a lot of options, including blocks you can cut to size, as well and dots or squares. If they don’t peel and stick, you can glue them.
Just keep weight in mind. A tiny frame and a lightweight decorative object are very different from a heavy framed piece. Don’t be shy! Put a lot on there!! Make sure the magnet can comfortably support the item before putting it on the refrigerator, especially on a door that will be opened and closed all day.
Will Magnets Stick Through Peel-and-Stick Wallpaper?
You know this was the first question that popped into your mind when you saw the wallpapered fridge! I mean, if we are going to do magnets, we have to make sure they still work.
Most of the time, yes! Just like a magnet without wallpaper, some are stronger than others. A wimpy magnet can hold one little thing. A stronger one you can pile things underneath it and it will hold. Same principle applies here.
When you use the peel and stick magnets to put on the back of your objects, you can’t use too many. Cut them and put them all ofer the back of that mini frame or decoration. Even if you don’t have one heavy duty magnet, this will work to keep it adhered to the wallpapered fridge.
A thin layer of removable wallpaper or cling creates another layer between the magnet and the metal surface, so a magnet that worked perfectly on the bare refrigerator may not hold as strongly once the covering is added.
If magnets are an important part of your gallery wall, test your chosen covering with the magnets you plan to use before covering the entire refrigerator.
💡 Slowestuff Tip: Make It Seasonal!
One of the best things about a magnetic fridge gallery wall is how easy it is to change. Swap in tiny Halloween prints in October, add vintage Christmas art and miniature ornaments for the holidays, or bring in florals and brighter colors for spring. You don’t have to redo the entire gallery either. Changing just a few little pieces can give your kitchen a completely different seasonal feel.

A Small Project That Can Completely Change Your Kitchen
You don’t need to renovate your kitchen to make it feel different. A fridge gallery wall can be a fun afternoon project that completely changes the look and personality of the room.
It doesn’t have to be expensive either. Start with things you already have, like favorite photos, postcards, tiny pieces of art, or interesting magnets. Add inexpensive mini frames, thrifted finds, or a roll of peel-and-stick wallpaper if you want to take the transformation even further.
That might be my favorite thing about this decorating trend. It takes something completely ordinary and makes it feel intentional, personal, and fun, without requiring a huge budget or a weekend-long project.
So if your kitchen has been feeling a little blah, maybe don’t start with the cabinets or countertops. Start with the fridge.
